A friend, Stephan A. Schwartz is particularly good at research and drawing sensible conclusions from it. In our own ways, we both concluded that diverting food crops or agricultural production into fuel manufacturing was a particularly bad idea. Stephan has an excellent daily report that often discusses this, The Schwartz Report.
I have the feeling that not many of my personal friends, including us Gaians, have noticed or understood the ripple effect on Earth in using food crops for fuel. It began in just the last two or three years and is still well below the radar of most news editors. If you know me, I'd truly appreciate that you reconsider what we're up to.
Because the facts are that we're now in the middle of massive food maldistributions, from which people are dying and rioting. Take a read of this Telegraph article which discusses it. The solution to this problem is simple in concept, but involved in execution; simply say, "No" when Detroit tries to sell you something that runs on fuel derived from food crops. There are many other ways to make the same kinds of fuel.
In wondering what our ELECTED representative in the U.S. are thinking will result from this, it occurred to me this morning that many of them, including Dubya, would secretly choose to have food riots in other countries. Of course, rioting de-stabilizes a government, and guess who's gonna be beseeched for help? What do you think?
Please consider this before accepting what Detroit is telling you about flex-fuel and ethanol. Thanks very much.
